Uses
Potassium gold cyanide is a metal of inorganic origin derived from cyanide. This metal is produced by treating hydrogen cyanide with an aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide, followed by the evaporation of the solution. Potassium gold cyanide is used in electroplating and in photography. This metal is widely used in organic synthesis for the preparation of nitriles and carboxylic acids. Potassium gold cyanide is also largely utilized in the extraction of gold and silver from ores and also as a fumigant and insecticide.
