Nickel monocarbonate is not soluble in water but soluble in acids.
Uses
Nickel has the ability to adsorb large amounts of hydrogen, therefore, it is used as a catalyst in hydrogenation. Nickel anhydrous is also useful for adjusting the pH of nickel baths.
Classification
Nickel carbonate powder can have cancerous effects, although there is still insufficient evidence to prove this; carbonic acid is harmful if inhaled and swallowed; nickelous carbonate may cause sensitisation by skin contact.
